Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

DEI

Towards an environment where each student can pursue profound learning

When students from diverse backgrounds collaborate while making the most of their individuality, creative ideas emerge, leading to higher-quality learning and research. The Division of Mechanical Engineering at Tohoku University offers opportunities for students to engage in diverse and multidisciplinary fields, promotes international research exchange, and fosters an inclusive environment where students from underrepresented groups, such as international and female students, can actively participate in learning and research. Through these efforts, we provide a dynamic and enriching research environment where each student can deeply pursue their own interests.

GLOBAL

Global Engagement

As a center of excellence in mechanical engineering, our division brings together talented students and researchers from a wide variety of backgrounds and nationalities to learn and create fundamental theories and cutting-edge technologies.

STUDENT SUPPORTS

Student Supports

We believe that science and society have developed through a diversity of values. Since Tohoku University was established, we have had an “Open Door” policy and were the first in Japan to enroll female students.
