About “Mechanical Engineering” at Tohoku University

The Division of Mechanical Engineering at Tohoku University is a general term that encompasses both Undergraduate School and Graduate school of Engineering. Under the former, belongs Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, the latter contains Mechanical Systems Engineering, Finemechanics, Robotics, and Aerospace Engineering. Moreover, the Department of Management Science and Technology, Graduate School of Information Science, Graduate School of Environmental Studies, and Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering are also under the Division of Mechanical Engineering.

Through Mechanical Engineering, we strive to define what is human happiness and how to achieve it. For a more prosperous future, one can learn in a top-level international environment while being supported by staff, state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, and many other amenities that betoken one of Japan’s most prestigious universities. We make it a strong point and characteristic of the Division of Mechanical Engineering that one can conduct one’s research fully and freely with unfettered thought.
