今後,エネルギーや環境,材料などの伝統的な機械工学の分野だけに留まらず,ナノテクノロジーや情報通信,生命科学といった複数の学問領域にまたがった次世代の技術の開発を推進していくことが求められます。それには,従来の設計概念の枠を超える必要があり,それが「機械機能創成」です。
社会の要請を踏まえたこれからの研究領域の具体例としては,マイクロ・ナノの加工技術を基盤とした新材料機能や機械システムの創成,医用への応用,太陽エネルギー,水素エネルギー,地熱エネルギー,水力,音波を使ったエネルギー変換,摩擦の大幅低減など,環境適合性に優れたエネルギーシステムや流体システムの開発などが挙げられます。
本専攻で学ぶ皆さんには最新の研究課題に参画し,実問題の重要性を体感しながら問題解決の能力を培ってもらい,皆さんを将来これら新領域における指導的な役割を果たせる人材へと育成します。
